Depart Nairobi in the morning, ~6–7 hours through the central highlands past Mount Kenya to Samburu. Check in at your accommodation and enjoy an afternoon game drive to spot the famous Northern Specials.

Early morning game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River — the lifeline of the reserve and a magnet for wildlife. Samburu is the only place in Kenya to find all five Northern Specials: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and beisa oryx. Afternoon drive in search of lion, leopard and elephant crossing the river.

Early morning game drive at first light — the best time for predator activity. After breakfast, begin the return drive to Nairobi, arriving by late afternoon.
